Ethereum Experts: "EIP-4844 introduces new transaction type 'blobs'...improves scalability"

"EIP-4844 (proto-danksharding) is part of the upcoming Ethereum (ETH) Dencun upgrade, which will introduce a new transaction type, 'blobs,' that will effectively lower fees by allowing for greater scalability," said Sassal, founder of ETH transaction fee tracking platform The Daily Gwei, on his X (formerly Twitter) account. "Blobs are data stored on beacon nodes for a relatively short period of time (up to 18 days) and have a separate fee market, meaning they are not subject to transaction fee spikes on the Layer 1 main network. It also relieves the storage burden on full Ethereum nodes and has the flexibility to adapt to any hard fork. Finally, EIP-4844 can improve Layer 2 scalability through data availability (DA) sampling, providing the perfect foundation for danksharding. The Dencun upgrade with EIP-4844 is expected to be active on the Ethereum mainnet on March 13, local time.
