SOLANA Gains Over 8% Today...Leads Major Coins in Gains

Solana (SOL) is the top gainer among the majors (top 20 coins by market capitalization), up more than 8% today (Dec. 12), according to CoinDesk. It has also reclaimed fourth place in the global market capitalization rankings, overtaking BNB. "The Coindesk 20, an index that tracks the top 20 cryptocurrencies by market capitalization, excluding stablecoins, is up 4% in the last 24 hours," CoinDesk said. This is mainly due to bitcoin's price regaining the $50,000 mark, leading the broader market. SOL is up 8% and ETH is up 6.6% over the same period. AVAX is up 6%, followed by BNB and ADA, which are also up around 3%. Ethereum ecosystem tokens such as Litecoin (LDO) and Layer 2 tokens such as Avitrum (ARB) and Mantle (MNT) have also seen strong gains after Franklin Templeton, a global asset manager and one of the first bitcoin spot ETF issuers, filed for an ETH spot ETF with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)".
