"Sony Bank, an internet specialty bank under Japan's Sony Group, plans to launch a stablecoin and is preparing to launch a blockchain with ASTR," Sota Watanabe, founder of Japanese public chain project ASTR, told X, citing a Nikkei report. According to the report, Sony Bank recently launched a demonstration project to examine the use of stablecoins as a payment method for gaming and e-sports, focusing on their low payment and remittance fees. In addition, the bank plans to launch 10 NFTs based on Asta's zkEVM with Japanese automaker Mazda.
