Crypto investors are more likely to play casino games

Cryptocurrency investors in the US market are 489% more likely to play casino games than the average app market user, according to new research. Global app market research firm SensorTower has released its Q4 2023 Audience Insights report, which reveals these findings. In total, SensorTower identified 44 "personas" of users who spend the most time with apps across 10 categories in the U.S. app market. For example, frequent users of fast food apps are classified as "fast food lovers," frequent users of travel apps are classified as "world travelers," and so on.

SensorTower's focus was on the "crypto investor" persona. According to SensorTower, 70% of active users of cryptocurrency-related apps are male, with 39% of young adults aged 25-34, followed by 24% of 35-44 year olds, 18% of 18-24 year olds, and 12% of 45-54 year olds. Compared to the general user base, crypto investors are more likely to use apps in the finance category (938%), casino gaming apps (489%), sports (267%), and business (256%). Cryptocurrency investors saw 176% more ads on X (formerly Twitter) than the general population, while Pinterest (-76%) and TikTok (-40%) had significantly lower ad exposure rates than the general population.
