According to CoinDesk, Mark Uyeda, the acting chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), has released a list of three executives in charge of the cryptocurrency task force (TF). The senior advisor to the TF and the person who will be advising Mark Uyeda is Landon Zinda, the former policy director of Coin Center, a non-profit organization that researches cryptocurrency. The other two were appointed from within the SEC. The SEC Crypto Task Force will be responsible for developing a comprehensive and clear regulatory framework for cryptocurrencies, and will work closely with Congress, industry, and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to do so.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is downsizing its cryptocurrency regulation and enforcement department. In this regard, the New York Times quoted five sources familiar with the matter, saying, “The SEC will reorganize by reassigning some of the staff in the cryptocurrency regulation department, which consists of 50 lawyers and employees. This is one of the first concrete steps by US President Donald Trump and his administration to lift the government-wide ban on cryptocurrencies and other digital assets.”
